I am debating whether or not to apply early to Cornell, which, if I was accepted, would force me to retract my other applications to other schools. I want to double major in English and Political Science and eventually pursue a Graduate Law degree. I have lived in Montreal for eight years and have most of my family there, and I also have dual citizenship in Canada and the US. I already speak French, my dad has promised a me a loft in downtown Montreal and my own car if I go to McGill University because of all of the money we could be saving. Should I apply as an undergrad by early decision to Cornell, and risk not being able to apply to McGill?

Um law is undergrad in Canada right?

One big decision you need to make is do you want to do law in the US or Canada.

I think it can be, but I would get my graduate probably in the US. & I’d probably practice law in the states.

Do you value having a major city as part of your college experience? Do you fear isolation, even if it’s “gorges”? That’s the one huge, gaping difference that jumps out at me right away.

If you plan to practice in the US then I would say Cornell is you best bet. Instant recognition there. Mcgill is amazing but I’ll be honest when I say that more ppl know Cornell.

I dont know about Cornell, but I have alot of friends at McGill and they absolutely love it. The nightlife is just, amazing. And they’re both high-standard schools. So if having fun(while also, ofcourse, being ontract with your school work) is a priority, just stick to McGill then go to a US law school. Also, McGill has 18% international students so you don’t really wanna miss out on all that diversity, do you?
listen, apply regular decision to both…because you just might change your mind.
Unless, of course, if your heart is REALLY set towards cornell…then just apply ED.
think about it…you still have a couple of months ahead of you…
Good luck!
