McGill vs. Northeastern vs. NYU

McGill- pros: track coach is recruiting me, significantly cheaper than US schools, I speak French and love the Montreal culture. Cons: not a lot of Americans, low school spirit, low school guidance, difficult to network in America?

Northeastern- pros: co-op program, Boston, love the school, school support, school spirit, 14k/year scholarship. Cons: graduate in 5 years, not being recruited for track

NYU- pros: gallatin school offers perfect academic program (create own major), recruiting me for track, NY networking post graduation. Cons: over 60k/year, a little close to home, no campus (although it surrounds Washington square park)

If you’re a Quebec resident or even a Canadian resident you should go to McGill, there’s no way Northeastern or NYU is worth the extra 40-60k per year.

There are some majors that make NYU or Northeastern “worth it” for the networking, film etc. For business engineering and other firm type jobs if you want to work in America just make contacts and try to get a job at a company that has offices in Montreal or Toronto and seek an opportunity to transfer to the states.

My son is a McGill alumnus. There are about 2400 American students there. You won’t be alone.

Virtually all majors at Northeastern offer a 4 year 2 coop option.

None of the these schools have big time athletics or that type of “school spirit”.
