I plan to major in International Relations/Political Science. Thoughts?
Thanks!

The way I thought of it, is if you want to study international affairs/something related, why not go abroad? The whole reason you want to study it is so that you can explore global connectivity right?

just my two cents

UMich actually has a very good IR program under its poli.sci department.
It’s ranked by the foreign policy magazine as joint. tenth best program in the country.

Mcgill offers international politics under a poli.sci major, and IR as a minor

WashU (st.louis?) offers an international studies major.

However IS is usually considered a watered down version of IR, so its program may not be as thorough as the one offered at UMich.

Thanks. Can anyone add anything about the social life at McGill or perhaps how difficult the classes are?

winnie: Do a search in the “Ask a McGill Alumnus” thread… there’s a bunch on both of these topics elsewhere too.

i agree with tkdkid…that was my thinking when i turned down Georgetown, WashU, and UMich for McGill this year. Studying IR abroad is just a more logical solution

Yep, I’m between Umich and McGill too.

you turned down Georgetown (SFS?) for IR?
