If anyone used this book and took the real test, were the test difficulties about the same? I think the english on some of the tests are a little harder and I think the math and reading may be easier but I am using a new strategy on reading so I'm not sure if I'm doing better on reading or the tests are easier. Can anyone give me feedback on this book?

Thanks.

The English is about similar except that some of the McGraw Hill tests have questions that would never be asked on the real thing.

The math is just about the same.

The reading is just about that same.

The science is by far much easier than the real science. The real science is insane difficult nowadays. It’s kind of hit and miss for science.

Good luck

I agree, science is almost like a guessing game lol.

Personally, I think this is the best practice book. The english and the reading section is bit tricky but this is the closest to the actual test.

English and Math are similar. Reading seems to be a little easier because the passages are shorter. Science is WAY easier than the actual test. It almost impossible now to prepare for the science because it is so unpredictable. I have both this and 1296 from Princeton. Get both, but the Princeton to me is more realistic

I have just about every test released in the last 5 years (my brother has tutored ACT for a long time, and now I work for his company too), so I have pretty good means of comparison. I agree that some of the English questions are just a totally different format from the real ACTs. The Science is no doubt easier (but don’t be so scared by the current Science! Once you wrap your head around it you realize the questions aren’t nearly as tough as they seem). Math is comparable for sure. Reading is significantly easier. All in all, a decent representation, but I’d make an effort to get some real exams - they can be found.

Also, spend a lot of time going over your mistakes on practice tests! Don’t just immediately move to another practice test. Learn from your errors!
