Which of these do you recommend? are they both good? I heard that the passages in the barron's one are a lot harder than the real thing...which is a good thing I'm assuming.

I'm currently scoring in the 500s, would like to get it to 650+ by March. Is this possible if I religiously study with the aforementioned book(s)?

It's quite awkward, because I'm so good at writing (I got an 800 on the November SAT with a 12 essay) but only 530 Critical Reading. Why am I so terrible at Critical Reading?

Anyways, I'd appreciate some input on the books. Thx.

I have McGraw-Hill's critical reading book.

Honestly, there's nothing special in there.

I really think it's best to go with the official study guide and take all eight tests.

I got 580, 590, and 630 each time. 630 only came after I bought the official book. So don't repeat my mistake and get on the official guide right away.

If you already have it, then you just have to practice even more.

So I shouldn't even bother getting McGrawHill? Dang..I thought it would really help me if I bought it.

Has anyone tried Barron's?

Next time you ask a question, TruthfuLie, think about what you say to other people's questions as well.

You put, "Tough luck" to my question about writing. Just because you can score 800 as you bragged there doesn't mean you can post retarded comments to other people's questions.

So, here's my 2 cents to your question kid. Just like my tough luck with writing, you have tough luck with your critical reading. HA HA.

yo, sorry about that falcon, that was my friend who was on the computer at hte time...he messed with my msn acount as well...

that wasnt' me, i just found out that he actually posted that after you just said

anyways, anyone know anything about the Barron's workbook for crit reading?

haha... can you change password?

Barron's CR is very good by the way. I increased from 560 to 710 on my critical reading after using it. But then I constantly practiced vocabulary and used new method so I don't know if it's book or myself.

Hmmm falcon. Sounds like a great improvement but not sure if it's just your practice or the book that really helped you. :)

I also have a 550-560 right now in the Reading part, I hope I can get it up soon.

Well, IMO, I don't think harder means better. I would stick with more accurate versions of the real CR sections. I have no say on Barron's since I've never been a huge fan of it. However, I've heard good and read good reviews from the McGraw Hill one. I have the Math one and it's good. But to stay on the safe side, always have the blue book besides you. It's truly The Book.
