I plan to major in Computer Science and I noticed that UVA offers Computer Science in two colleges, A&S and CoE. I want to minor in either Business(commerce) or computer engineering.

Is it possible for me to join McIntire while I major Computer Science? If not, how is commerce as a minor?

Have you been on the McIntire School Web site? The core curriculum would make it extremely unlikely one could complete a College or E-school major concurrently. At most you have one elective per semester 3rd and 4th year after being accepted to the COMM school.

There is not a minor in Commerce. There is a Leadership minor through the COMM school, but as you would expect, it’s focus is not broad business acumen.

If you want to focus your energies on engineering first you can major in CS in SEAS and take advantage of their Technology Entrepreneurship Program where you can get a Business Engineering Minor, or a Technology Entrepreneurship Focus. Coursework is both in SEAS and McIntire.
