McIntire Transfer Question/Input

Hi everyone. I'm a current student at a VCCS (Virginia Community College System) school and I'm due to get 2 associates one in Business Administration and the other in IT next spring. I'm going to apply for admission for Fall 2014 and I was wondering if my stats maybe had a shot?

GPA: 4.0
ACT: 27
HS: GED
EC's: Church and community work
PTK member

I don't know what else to add but that about sums it up.

Oh and if there is anyone else currently in McIntire or if you've graduated from there. How did you like it/How do you like it so far?

Anyway thank you and any advice, input or comments are welcome! :)

[UVa McIntire School of Commerce: Application Process: Transfer Students](http://www.commerce.virginia.edu/undergrad/admissions/Pages/Application-Process-Transfer-Students.aspx)

According to those statistics, McIntire offered 41 spots to transfers in 2012, of which roughly 70% (~28) came out of the VCCS system. You can improve your odds of being in that 70% if you have completed courses required by McIntire: http://www.commerce.virginia.edu/undergrad/admissions/Documents/VCCSEQU.pdf

Improve? I’m almost certain that McIntire won’t accept a VCCS transfer applicant who doesn’t complete all of the pre-reqs.

The Business Admin program at my CC covers all the pre reqs.

It looks to me like you have an excellent shot. The ACT is a little low, but not sure that matters so much for transfers. You have gone beyond what is typical by earning two associate’s degrees.

McIntire is intense, as you must know. You really need to be committed and know what you want. There is TONS of group work. There is not much space in the schedule for electives, esp in Acctg.

I was friendly with a CC transfer when I was there, back in the late 80’s. She was overwhelmed at first by the high academic expectations, but quickly adjusted and did great.

Good luck!

Thank you! I know McIntire will be tough, it is afterall one of the top programs in the country, I wouldn’t expect anything less.

Anyway, thanks again.

Hey I just started NOVA this semester and I don’t think the Associates degree covers the pre–reqs for Mcintire. There’s the foreign language requirement through the 202 level.
