I am a "Senior" as of Monday (Class of 2013). My current stats info as follows: GPA is 3.85, 4.25 17 honors classes, 3 AP lots of ex, NFHS VP, Softball Captain, Softball Manager, NHS,Rho Kappa, other clubs, part time job, over 100 service hours, Speaks French / Spanish. SAT 1380 /2040. I am waiting for the June SAT results.
Has anyone else received the McKissick Scholarship and/ or admittance to the Honors College with similar stats.
Also does anyone know anything about the International Business program. If accepted into the honors college are you automatically accepted into the International Business Program or is the International Business Program a separate application?

I think I answered some of this on previous thread. Stats for Mckissick from admission website are ave SAT - 1344, ACT- 30, weighted GPA 4.13. Based on last years info you are definitely on track. Now I personally think your SAT is on low end for Honors College, BUT there is a huge honors supplement to be done and it has several essays so there is definitely a subjective element to being accepted into honors. I would definitely apply (start working on it as soon as they put it up…it is ridiculously long). As to international business, there are probably others that can speak to that, but I am pretty sure you don’t get accepted into that major as a freshman and Honors doesn’t really have anything to do with it.

I won the McKissick and was admitted to Honors this year:

3.78 Unweighted, 4.25 weighted.
7 AP Courses, all others honors
Spanish Fluency (Non-native speaker - learned in classroom and through EC’s)
2010 SAT: 690 Reading, 650 Math
29 ACT
Declared Spanish/Premed Biology
Unified Bocce Ball (11/12): Special needs and non special needs students play sports on the same team (‘unified’ concept in my state)
National Honor Society, National Spanish, Science, Math Honor societies

Varsity Tennis Captain, 3 Year Varsity Letterman/1 Year County Champion/Undefeated

Marching Band Trumpet Section Leader (11/12), 2nd place USSBA National Championships Sophomore Year, 3rd place Junior Year.

Marching Band Meritorious Service Award (11)

Hospital Summer/Senior Year Intern (291 Hours Volunteer service)
Over 150 other volunteer hours at a retirement community

Legacy

Worked 1 part time job starting freshman year: added another part time job senior year
(about 35 hours/week between them)

Wrote very strong essays because I knew my SAT and GPA were low for honors/scholarships. (There are 5 short essays, a personal statement, and a longer essay. Write them well and its your ticket into honors, even with weaker stats like mine.)

EDIT: The International Business program matriculation is guaranteed for honors students. I’m not entirely sure how it works, but honors students are supposedly guaranteed admission to the program.

Congratulations!! Thank you so much! I am very interested in this school and am visiting in July. Do you remember when the essay topics are released?

they should be out August 1st when every school releases their general application

Some of the questions probably don’t change…start listing all the books you read in HS and note which ones were required! That’s the one thing I remember from both my Ds
