McNair/Horse shoe?

@Chopinspiano Why not? USC has other great scholarships as well. Have you been accepted to any other schools? yet? I think it’s best just to see which schools will offer the best financial package that you are willing to take before you write them off. Personally, I don’t know much about USC’s honors programs (at least compared to my other alternatives)

@Springong compared to the scholarships my friends have received from USC and the financial packages I’ve seen from friends who now attend, it would be impossible for me to attend since I didn’t get the invite. Even if I do get into honors a lot of their honors college scholarships will not be awarded for fall 2016. A friend of mine with a 30 ACT score and a 3.9 gpa was only awarded $2,000 from USC plus state scholarships for a total of $8,700/year.

I’ve been accepted into Tulane, Ohio State, UAlabama, Howard, and Cofc which will all be significantly cheaper than going to USC(except Tulane of course).

@springong @HenryK @ebonhawke or anyone else… when does the invitation say you have to rsvp by?

@sunnysmiles It says by the 27th.

@scmom12 Thank you for the post! Wow, that’s incredible. The more I consider SC, I get excited. Beats out what I thought was my #1 by 25k if I’m a horseshoe, 30k if I’m McNair, (with NMF) and I wanna do international business, which they love to advertise as #1. Can’t wait for the visit!

@ebonhawke congrats! what was your #1?

Did anyone else get a letter with a reminder that we’ll hear about our “guaranteed merit scholarship by mid-march?” this means we weren’t selected, right?

@thermagirl I got the same thing.

@Chopinspiano @thermagirl
As far as I am aware, everyone will receive that. I haven’t personally received it (or know if I received it, for that matter) *I am at a boarding school away from home where my mail is sent. However, I received that same letter earlier in the month. The program does roll out the letters of acceptance over the next several weeks. I think one student said they received theirs one week before the program! Don’t despair!

I do have a question for everyone else though… I intend to double major in EE and in their IB major, and I tried to make that obvious on my application, but I have only heard back from the engineering program. Does anyone understand how that works?

I’m going to be an IB major as well, @Springong, and am under the impression that if you follow in the IB program you are required to get a secondary major in another business major. So if you pursued EE, you would probably have to triple major.

Here’s the list I found of secondary majors: http://moore.sc.edu/UserFiles/moore/Documents/IB%20Undergrad/Double%20Major%20WEB.pdf

@ebonhawke RIP in pieces. Not the first time that I tied my own noose. All in or bust I guess! That’s the approach I’ve taken through life so far… Thanks for looking that up for me! Super useful information that I didn’t already know. I guess I’ll need to prepare some questions for the board…

Does anyone know when the other scholarship notifications follow - like for Cooper, etc.?

^^Final financial packages, including final merit offers, usually come out in March around the same time as final notification to remaining student acceptances. So around this time:

March 14, 2016: Regular Application Decision Week Begins
Decisions will be released during the week of March 15 for students who applied by December 1 and who also meet the February 1 Credentials deadline.
