McNair Letter?

I got a letter today that said I am not a candidate for the McNair scholarship, but I have not heard back from USC yet about admission for the Honors College? Should I be concerned about this or not?

According to honors web page, rolling decisions process goes until Feb. 15, which is end of this week. Don’t know if you should receive decision by weekend or if they are sent out on that date at the latest. You might want to call admissions and ask.

my son received same letter today.

BTW, the admissions web-page says final decisions about honors will be done by Feb.22 so they pushed that back a week…good luck to everyone still waiting.

My daughter just got her honors decision letter today in Georgia

My son just got his honors letter today finally as well.

Congrats to everyone who got in honors! It’s a great program.

We are very pleasantly surprised he got in. S had great grades but I didn’t think his SAT’s were high enough. He spent a long time working on the essays, I think that might have really helped also. It definitely makes him think again now about South Carolina. We’ve heard some nice things about the program.

^^If you can come for admitted honors/scholarship day (not sure what they call it) do. If not and can visit again some other time, contact honors and they’ll arrange for you to sit in on class and talk to someone in HC if haven’t already. Yes, I think the essays are very important and ECs too - they like students who are going to be involved the whole school.

Thanks scmom12. We definitely need to make another trip down. We were there for the campus tour last spring break - but didn’t see anything other than exactly what was on the tour. We’d love to spend more time there on our own and even check out the city a little bit as well. I think the HC admission has definitely made him reconsider the school.

Just note that spring break is week of March 11 and there won’t be any students around then.

Thanks for the heads up!!
