I know, it's crazy. I am an artist trapped inside a physician. Kinda got swept up into the whole premed thing, then once you start med school its hard to drop out, because of debt, expectations, etc. I have paid off all my student loans, have saved some money up for school, and have been taking art classes through continuing ed- luckily, I live in NYC and have been able to take some cool classes at great schools. I have cut back on my work and also cut back on spending. I want to apply this fall - any advice on schools in NYC that might be best fit for nontraditional student? My interests are conceptual/bio art (no surprise there) and my portfolio art contains some digital microscopy/pathogen as beauty stuff (I have some awesome patients who have supplied the pathogens...)I do appreciate representational art and Leonardo's drawings make me cry...Some have told me Cooper Union is a good fit. What about NYU or Columbia? Pratt, Parsons, SVA? I kinda like the idea of being at a school tat has strong science program too.

And for those interested in med school:don't go unless you get extremely good financial aid or you or your family has money to pay for it. It is not worth 100,000-200,000 debt!! Get yourself a game of Operation, have some drinks and play surgeon.
