I never was considering top universities (highest reaches were originally Carnegie Mellon and Boston College) but now that someone told me to take the ACT and I scored well (35) I definitely will be applying to top schools. I visited Harvard and MIT and LOVED them. However one part of my application definitely lacks... my subject tests. My GPA, ACT, letters of rec, and essay are all pretty good. ECs are alright-decent. So I'm worried about my SAT IIs. I never took them seriously because, like I said, I wasn't aiming for top schools. (some schools, however, like UPenn and Princeton, take ACT over the subject tests anyway)

Do I just hope for the best and send my top 2 (math and chem)? Or maybe retake? I dont know what to do ahh!

Biology - Molecular 680 06/2009
Chemistry 680 06/2010
Math Level I 670 11/2008
Math Level II 700 06/2009
Math Level II 720 06/2010

If you’re hoping for MIT, you might want to bring your math2 score up to an 800. MIT admissions says they don’t value a 700 over an 800, but since the curve on that test is so lenient an 800 would be preferable.

MIT also considers one science score, which should be in the 700s. You’re pretty close on both your science SAT2s, so pick one (or both!) and aim for something in the upper 700s.

Good luck! (and keep in mind that scores aren’t everything, especially for MIT) :)

I guess I’m screwed then. There’s so much on the Math SAT II (80 points worth) that I don’t think I will ever be able to learn (obviously didn’t learn in any math class of mine, despite having taken up to Calc 1) and I haven’t touched a Chemistry book since late May so I don’t know how well I’ll remember the stuff. -_-

You should look into bringing up one of your science scores. Besides that, let everything fall in place by itself A 720 in math instead of a high 700 or even a 800 won’t kill your chances.
