Me.. applying to Yale?

I'm a Junior at a large low-performing high school in Tri-State Area (I'm middle class and white)

SAT: 2300+ (based of psat)
SATII: 730, 760, 760, one more that is not so stellar (does it count, considering they ask for 3?)
Rank: top 10 students of ~512
APs: 5/4/4/5

ECs:Prez of Investment Club, Prez of Student Gov, Prez of NHS, Mock Trial Capt, science research at nyu, volunteering, internship w/ politician, finance internship in manhattan, Varsity Tennis (not that great though)

Any chances? Advice? Is it recommended for a student of my mediocore credentials (for Yale!) and from my poor school to apply EASC? or is that a disadvantage because of the stiff competition?
Be honest.. If Yale is totally out of my league, which colleges should I look at?
I'm looking to major in statistics or econ
Thanks, in advance!!!

what is your GPA that really matters a lot...

Not so hot, but near the top at my school.
93 UW 98W

so thats like a 3.8 weighted?? 98/100 weighted?

its an under 4.0 weighted GPA, very difficult to get into any top 10 school, unless you have like 2400 SAT's, and very good essays, recs, ec's, and other things. athletes get into with this gpa all the time, but not "unspecial" people like us!

maybe Vanderbilt (US NEWS #17), great school, but not as high admission standards (GPA) as the ivies, but still number 17 in the nation

would be a safer fit for you, but still apply everywhere you want, because it is always a toss up!

I think the scale is somewhat different, but w/e.
Btw, don't compare me and you.. You're on imdb and I'm not.

im not comparing you and me, where did I do that?

"not "unspecial" people like us"

I meant that you have a pretty nice hook, while I'm just an average applicant.

thats not comparing you to me, Its not really a hook, theres nowhere to put it on the application, and they dont want you to attach a resume, so idk how to show them about it this fall

UChicago has a super economics department

Certainly. However, I'm always hearing negative things about UChicago's social scene.

isnt his average 3.8 unweighted and 4.3 weighted?

I would say it's 3.7-3.8+ UW?

mediocre credentials? are you kidding? your SAT score is amazing and you're a certain lock there. your GPA is also pretty solid (3.8 is nothing to complain about) and if anything happens your excellent extra currics will bring you up. the only problem would be your class rank since you say you come from a bad school but there's no sense in not trying.

about uchicago, i visited there and yes, it's..."smart" haha. with economics, you can get a ranking here:

http://www.phds.org/rankings/

you've got a shot. work on those grades. go for it!

Thanks so much guys.

bump it up... any more opinions

CC tends to make it seem that students need a 4.0 to get into HYPSM, while this coneption does have some validatiy, there are some students with 3.5s that get admitted. However, you have a solid predicted SAT score nothing to worry about there, decent SAT II nothing to worry about there, ECs though nothing stands out, and it is sort of random, you do have leadership in Mock Trial (Third Best EC in the world) which is awesome, have you competed in the national competition? Regardless I must say you have a solid chance for Yale, not outstanding but certainly not shabby. Pour your heart and soul out in your essays and application and with a little luck you might just get in. But DEFINITELY APPLY!
