So what's this I've been hearing about a double major mechE/aeroE? It sounds interesting since I was always planning on mechE and possibly leaning towards aero as a concentration.

Really just looking for any thoughts on the program. I hear it takes 4.5 years, instead of 4, which really doesn't worry me thanks to the amazing price. What else?

Freshman son is doing this. He is very happy with his choice to attend UB. He was accepted to every school he applied to (15 in all with 2 different majors, hence so many schools as not all had engineering). He was most impressed with Buffalo, and yes, the cost is great. (He was given a 3K scholarship/year so that helps too!!)

With the dual major, your schedule will be packed. Son is taking a three classes locally over the summer to get them out of the way. (The electives: English, World Civ, etc…)

Convenience to the airport in Buffalo is great and they fly to JFK, LGA and Islip.

Saw your other post-
re: AP’s.
Son went in with 45 credits (per UB) but it won’t even matter as there are so many required courses. Will help though for getting to register for classes earlier than others and may housing too.

Seems like most Aero or Mech students end up doing this.

It’s basically the difference of four classes. There’s three additional courses that you have to take plus one tech elective (you’ll likely fulfill this anyway).

It’s published as a 4.5 year program but many can do it in 4. If you knock out enough gen ed’s through AP or transfer credit coming in, it’s definitely feasible in 4 years.
