ME Labs and Engineering Projects

For each semester of senior year I have to take an ME (MechE) Lab and do an engineering project. From the outline, the ME labs seem to be based around testing and using equipment/Matlab. Both the ME labs and the projects are 2 credits each.

My question is, how time-consuming are these? I work on top of classes and am trying to schedule things so I can get done in a timely manner while also not overloading myself. During these semesters I will also be taking a department elective and heat transfer/vibration and controls (which are known to be difficult/time consuming), so the semesters will look like this:

SEMESTER 1
ME Lab 1 (2 credits)
Engineering Project 1 (2 credits)
Heat Transfer (3 credits)
Department Elective (3 credits)

SEMESTER 2
ME Lab 2 (2 credits)
Engineering Project 2 (2 credits)
Vibration and Controls (3 credits)
Department Elective (3 credits)
(10 credits total per semester)

I usually take 9 credits per semester, which is manageable along with working. For those of you who have taken these classes, do this seem manageable for my situation? If it helps, I attend Rutgers (mechanical engineering). Thanks in advance

It’s hard to say. It depends on the school and the professor. It depends on what grade you want, and how hard of a grader the prof is.

Why not directly ask senior ME majors at Rutgers these questions. I am sure they could give you better insight than any of the random responses you might get from CC
