ME --> M.Arch?

okay i asked this in the architecture area, but didn't get very many satisfactory responses so.. i know that if i pursue an M.Arch Option II, i can use any undergrad degree, as long as i have a portfolio and/or studio design classes. so i was wondering, do you think that majoring in ME for undergrad would make me any more appealing to future employers? for undergrad, i'm pretty sure i'm going to stay in engineering, although i'm not tied down to any particular field, so i was just wondering if it would be a boost or not really something they look at

Civil engineering is more related to architecture.

As for the MArch, it depends on the school. Some will make you stay 3 years for the whole program, others will give you advanced standing for having design classes.

You mean M.Arch I? M.Arch II is for those who already have a professional architecture degree.

If you’re open to suggestions for your undergrad degree and want to stay in engineering, I would second pandem’s idea of civil engineering. I’ve seen people jump both ways between civil engineering and architecture during college. They are pretty related and as an architect, you’ll be working a lot with structural engineers. Mechanical engineering does have a role in the construction industry, but it’s not nearly as important.

oops, yes, i was trying to think of civil but for some reason it slipped my mind. thanks!

There are a few schools with Architectural Engineering programs, with UT-Austin and PSU probably the top two.
