ME major, AE minor

I have a genuine interest for aerospace engineering but for safety reasons I am planning to major in ME. I am excited about MechE as well. But I wanted to take advantage of georgia tech's highly ranked AE program and its option of including AE as a minor.

Can you guys help me evaluate the pros and cons the advantages of this combo. I would like to know the pros and cons in terms of the time needed (Can I graduate in less than 4 years?) job opportunities, salaries, work load??

Simply put...you won't graduate on time unless you're one of those truly bright people and have incredible time management skills...and you probably won't have much time to hang out after your freshman year.

Stick to one major, especially when they're so closely related as AE and ME. If it were ME and Inta, then maybe I would offer different advice.

But it's only a minor...and plus I thought ME and AE being closely related is a plus...because then some AE classes will overlap with ME....I just want to have the choice of going to an AE job also....

so the number of credit hours for a minor will get reduced right?

no, for minors you cant use classes that are required for your major.

I'm an AE major who was looking at a CS minor so I heard this from my advisor.
