You’re a good, well-rounded candidate, but as I’m sure you know there’s a lot of those this year (like every year, I guess). Your resume is impressive and you have a nice pattern of commitment to EC’s culminating in taking leadership positions. The problem is, nothing in particular is going to jump out to an ad-com that’s going to be seeing Siemens-Westinghouse competition (or whatever the hell it’s called these days) winners and the like.

In other words, you’re consigned to well-roundedness purgatory. Your math and verbal are a bit on the low side for Dartmouth but in general you’re a perfectly well-qualified candidate and you’ll certainly be in the running. There’s obviously going to be a fair number of well-rounded candidates admitted, but just as obviously the number of well-rounded candidates applying with stats and activities similar to yours is massive and which specific such candidates make it is really hard to pinpoint.

You’ve got a shot. I suspect you’ll also need a little bit of luck, but it is certainly not out of the realm of possibility. Good luck.

well, i don’t know how much this helps, but i talked to the sailing coach and he said i would be a good addition to the team if i went there. he emailed his “contact” in the admissions office to talk to them about me

You have a good chance at admission. The problem here is that so many people do as well. " Your math and verbal are a bit on the low side for Dartmouth"…
yeah don’t listen.
I got a 610 Math and 690 Verbal and got a “very likely” letter from Dartmouth. My grades are a bit higher, ECs, are extreme, and rigor of course load ridiculous, but you stand out to me as a person that has a lot of dedication and would make a substantial contribution. Just hope for the best. It’s only 2 days away.
& the worst possible thing that could happen is you go to another equally amazing school because it’s a better fit for you.
good luck!

thanks!! anyone else??
