Can any existing students or parents tell me which plan you would recommend? "Carte Blanche +325" or "Carte Blanche +100"?

From what I can gather from my D, it all depends on your kid and A) how much they eat; along with B) if they like Bruff. We went with the +325 or something like that at first, but she is a light eater and for what she mostly eats, she actually likes Bruff. But some kids don’t like it as well, or tire of it quickly, and need the higher amount of “optional” eating $$. We reduced her plan for 2nd semester, so that is one good thing is that you can adjust it.

Thanks, fallen.

Your post prompted me to look up the meal plans for the new year.

[url=<a href=“Tulane Dining Services”>Tulane Dining Services]Faculty/Staff Meal Plan/url

I don’t know why but as posted the Carte Blanche plans make no sense. The unlimited plus 325 which includes 300 wave bucks and 25 NOLA bucks is the same price as unlimited plus 100.

If this stands the +$325. is a no brainer.

Unlike FC’s D, my freshman d does not eat at Bruff, and can’t wait to get off Carte blanche, because for her it is a waste of money. She gets Bruff to go or eats at the Loyola Bruff equivalent about 3 or 4 times a week, other times she uses her wavebucks or cooks limited meals in her microwave. She figured out it costs her between $25-30 a meal on the unlimited plan.

We wish she could take the JR SR flex 6 as this is essentially the same as Wavebucks 45/900 which is most likely what she will take but the price is 500 less.

Septmbr, I think the info posted on that site is incorrect.

This shows +325 plan at $2,275 per semester and the +100 plan at $2,025 per semester.

What does your daughter dislike? Food bad, choices, inconvenient???

We didn’t eat at Bruff when we visited but my daughter is going back this weekend. I will make sure she checks it out when she’s there.

Let me start by saying my D is a very happy freshman at Tulane. Food service is her only major complaint and would not have caused her to change her decision about going to Tulane even knowing what she knows now about the food.

When we visited during Destination Tulane the food seemed fine. We ate sandwiches which is still what she would eat if she had to go there. She doesn’t like any of the hot meals. She doesn’t eat breakfast. I have encouraged her to do so, as I assume cereal would be fine. She and her friends like the Loyola dining hall much better and that is available as part of the meal plan.

The choices last year were +100, 250 or 400 I believe. If your student is going to spend the dollars it is better to do so through the meal plan as there is no sales tax on items purchased with wavebucks. Wavebucks rollover from fall to spring. My d started with +250 and upgraded to +400 near the end of the semester. She took the +250 again for spring as she had more than half of the extra $ left over for spring.

Remember you can always upgrade if it is not enough.

MY s said that next year there will be an arrangement with many of the nearby restaurants. Not sure if they will take pelican bucks or the wave bucks. But look into it before making your selection.

This is all good to know. Thanks.

From what I have read they are called NOLA bucks, which can be used at some restaurants in the area. The site doesn’t say which restaurants are participating.

Does the +250 not exist any more? That’s what I have and it’s pretty much perfect.
