What exactly IS a meal plan?
How is it better/ worse than just buying ur self a meal each time?
Do the dorms not serve breakfast and dinner?

i guess a meal plan is cheaper...plus you dont have to worry about paying for food everyday...

hmm...so a meal plan is where u pay a lump sum to the dining guys and then just flash a card each time?

At only certain locations on campus too.

but do the dorms give us break-fast and dinner?

The dorms don't give you breakfast or dinner. You have to go the dining halls.

Sorry I'm so ignorant, but how much does a typical lunch/dinner cost? (on both pay schemes)

going to a dining hall and paying with cash is usually like $12. I'd say expect to spend like $6-7 at the a la carte places for like a burger with fries and a drink. A meal plan is usually cheaper and easier - it's nice not having to pull out more and more cash every time you want food.

About how many meals do students eat on average?

I've been told not to buy too many meals for the meal plan because you only end up eating once or twice a day anyways.

Most people here say start of with the 14 meal/week plan but that eventually most of us will move to the 10 meal/week plan.
