Meal Plan

whats the most popular for freshmen: plus 10, plus 13, plus 15, or unlimited. It appears that each meal is equivalent to roughly 40 PLus Dollars. What are the advantages/disadvantages of plus dollars, what can they buy you? What is defined as a "meal" which is a very general term. I mean I'll probably stay 6 days a week and will need all the meals I can get (I'm a guy and I eat about 3 meals a day) but I'm having a hard time deciding...I'm thinking between plus 15 and unlimited any suggestions??

Do Plus 13 or Plus 15. Don't take unlimited because the dining food really sucks. You'll grow to loathe it. Take my word :) Now, I have the Plus 10 and I get more Plus Dollars which I can use to buy other [more edible] food like pizza.

Go for plus 15 or unlimited. I had unlimited 1st year and it worked out well for me. I'm not a very picky eater and theres always something at the dining hall that you like and in the event that there isn't -treat yourself to a meal on the corner. As far as plus dollars, you can eat at any of the a la carte locations around grounds which include pizza hut, chix fil a, a sushi place, smoothie place, a place that serves thanksgiving-type food, pizza places, sandwhich places, etc. You can also use cav advantage, cash, and credit at these places.

you can't do the plus 10 thing first semester right? I'm going with the plus 13 first semester I think, and then we'll see how it goes from there, but I'm probably going to end up lowering it to plus 10.

It really depends on how often you'll be finding yourself/wanting to go to the dining hall. I personally wouldn't recommend unlimited, because you get significantly less plus dollars which overall can be used at the semi-convenience store/food areas on grounds. I went with plus 15 both semesters and it was a waste of money- I often ate elsewhere either with my own cash/plus dollars or just off of meetings or whatever such that I only really used 10 meals a week (I eat two meals a day usually). However if you're definitely eating three meals a day, which most people really don't do, then you'll probably need unlimited or at least plus 15.

Get something like the plus 13 or plus 15 meal plan for your first semester. From there, gauge your college eating habits. What you'll likely find is that you only eat 2 meals per day. Plus dollars can be used in on-grounds convenience stores and a-la-carte dining locations, such at Pizza Hut, Chick fil a, and others. By my second semester, I decided to get the plus 10 meal plan, which had 400 plus dollars.

well considering several get tired of diner food after the 1st year i bet a lotta ppl decide to go plus 10 to eat out at pizza hut and chica-fila is plus dollars more for snacks or both meals and snacks cuz i know places like UMD have terp bucks in addition to a meal plan which is for light eaters who will need more money for snacks
