Meal Plan?

GT for ILR here

What meal plan should I choose? I don't do breakfast. Lunch sometimes. Dinner always.

And what's a Big Red Buck? $500?

10 meals or 7 meals per week should be fine for you then. Most people over estimate the number of meals they will eat in the dining hall. Bucks are for ala carte locations. You will use these mostly for lunch and for getting coffee. You can also use them to buy food in the convenience stores.

overall, no matter what meal plan you choose, you will have a lot more meals and money than you can spend.

Don't get the unlimited mealplan. If you are worried that you might run out of meals, get the 14 meals/week plan. You probably won't get 14 meals a week in the dining halls though because either you'll eat out or you'll be too busy.

10 meals/week. With BRB (basically cash, stored on your card, that you use at convenience stores/ a la carte places like Bear Necessities) you will NOT need 14. Trust me. Save the extra money and use it for textbooks....

Thanks, guys!!!

yep, 10 meals w/ 500 BRB's. I always end up running out about a month before the semester ends so I would add another 100-150 BRB's.

how did you use up your brbs so quickly? I still have $200 left and I'm frantically trying to get rid of them.

Yeah, I have $120 left and since I really don't want to give Cornell any more money than it deserves, I'd be happy to buy ya'll subs sometime this week...haha. Otherwise I'm going to go home with a summer's worth of sundries.

can the BRBs only be used at convenience stores to buy food or can you use them to buy like pens, notebooks, and stuff?

only food.

do they sell like red bull and all that good stuff?? ;)

Yes but at marked up prices. I prefer those canned Starbucks double shots myself. I usually buy them in packs of 4 or 6 (or whatever they come in) at Topps or Wegman's.

sooo good. can you exchange BRBs for like i dunno regular money or something of the equivalent at Topps or Wegmans'? <-- those are off campus right?

wait so BRB is only food? can u buy tshirts and other stuff at the bear necessities store? cuz food that's just kinda lameo

yes, only food. no, you can't exchange them.

this is because cornell got a special deal with ny not to put taxes on stuff bought with brbs. so they have really strict laws about it.

remember, it's for lunch and coffee and snacks and smoothies and gelato and bubble tea and all that.

If you're one of those people who drinks those expensive coffee drinks every day, don't worry about using up your BRBs. They're also good for breakfast or lunch on the go, e.g. if you just want to buy a pre-made sub on the way to a class.

what about if you live in cook, bethe, becker... whats the best meal plan for that? (House Meal Plan)
is the lowest fine? 50 meals per semester...

no, the house meal plans on west campus give you an unlimited access, they also allow you to have 50 meals at any other residential dining hall lol ps.50 meals per sem. wouldn't make a lot of sense lol

no.. the lowest isnt fine?
i know they give you unlimited... but its only certain times.. and youd have to come all the way to ur dorm to eat... lol
im confused....
please elaborate
thanks
