im an international student and will transfer to a small private college this fall.

there are 4 different meal plans:
1) any 21 meals/week
2) any 14 meals/week + $100 flexi/semester
3) any 12 meals/week + $75 flexi/semester
4) any 10 meals/week + $275 flexi/semester

meals are from 3 different restaurants (one of them is an all you can eat restaurant). Flexi can be use in all of college's cafe and restaurants. All of the flexi and meals cant be transfer/refund. All of the plans have pretty much same prices. the college's website doesnt give much information and i dont know the average prices and portion of college meals in US.

im an asian girl who eats 3x (not a large US portion) + 2 snacks a day. At first I think plan4 is the best for me, but with $275 flexi,,isnt that too much?

im going to assume the 3rd option is $175...

I usually eat around 12 meals at the dining halls, so I personally would go with that. But we have really good food, so option 4 might be good too.

You should shoot for the smallest or second to smallest meal plans. Almost everyone in my college has meals left over at the end of the year, which equals wasted money. Most plans come with guest passes, anyway, that could use if worse comes to worse.

i agree with plattsburghloser. i mean you will get tired of the food eventually. plus most kids i talk to have food left over on their plan and if you run out you can always borrow from someone who have a ton left or you can buy more points or whatever. i would go with either 3 or 4. you can always take a trip to the grocery store...

I am going to have 9 meals a week with no flex money. I don't know about other schools, but mine lets you use flex money in vending machines, at the coffee shop, and at the convience store. I would get flex money, but it costs $150 more to have $100 in flex money. There will probably be times that your friends want to go eat at a restaurant and you'll end up having money left over, which pretty much means you are paying for 2 meals when you only eat one. My school also doesn't allow a leftover meal from week 1 to be used for week 2, so that really sucks. I'd go for the cheapest deal with the least meals.

I would only use the meal plan for dinner and the occasional lunch/breakfast. If I need snacks/breakfast/lunch, I'll just buy something from the supermarket.
