When do we get our meal plan, if any at all? I've been hearing all my friends talk about them, but I haven't heard anything here XD.

Updates please, i don't want to be left out in the cold!

Updates please, i don't want to be left out in the cold!

your meal plan starts when you move in. if you live in the apartments you get $2145 for the year, and if you live in the res halls you get $2795 (if you eat a TON you can upgrade to $3255 but seriously, unless you’re eating full meals 5 times a day it will not be necessary). the dining dollars can only be spent at these [http://hdh.ucsd.edu/diningservices/hours.asp] places. and you can also check your dining dollar balance online [http://hdh.ucsd.edu/tritoncash/getstarted.asp].

more likely than not, you’re going to have a ton of money left over at the end of the year - but dining dollars do not roll over to the next year, so you either spend what you have left by the time you move out or you lose it completely. you’ll definitely want to hit up earl’s place or pots during spring quarter - they’ll be selling a ton of appliances like george foreman grills, toaster ovens, blenders, etc. (i had to spend over $500 buying this stuff)

if you do end up running out of dining dollars, put money into triton cash instead. your triton cash balance rolls over to the next year and you can use them at some places off-campus and some of the non-ucsd restaurants on-campus (like jamba juice).

but yeah, just check out the ucsd dining website [http://hdh.ucsd.edu/diningservices/] for any other information you need. the budgeting calendar is really useful. :)

^You are SO helpful! on other threads too, way to be haha!

Just also want to add that the reason you probably haven’t heard much is that the meal plan is included in your housing fees, since you are required to have a meal plan if you live on campus. UCSD housing/dining just lumps it all together.

Oh and also want to add that the amount of dining dollars you get is RIDICULOUS, I also had to spend probably $500 in junk for other people and stuff for next year. It’s absurd.

Um… my meal points were gone by the second week of spring quarter D:

That was a very informative and helpful post! LOVE YA!

I am now clarified!
