Meal Plans at NYU

Hey guys was wondering how the meal plans at NYU are, eg. the quality and variety of food, and whether they are compulsory?

Also, do ppl usually eat according to the plans or do they prefer to eat out?

Thanks.

The quality is pretty good, as I remember it. They really do a good job, considering the amounts of food they're turning out per meal or per day.

I only had a meal plan freshman year, and in retrospect, 19 meals a week was too much. On that plan, I think breakfast comes out to $8 a bang, and since I'm a oatmeal/cereal person, it wasn't really worth it. The 14 meals a week seems reasonable to me.

Meal plans are compulsory for freshmen who live in traditional-style housing. I don't think they're required for freshmen who live in apartment-style housing, but you should check to make sure.

They are not required for freshmen in apartment style dorms. But honestly, go with the 10 meals--I would say that's more than enough. The quality of food is pretty good, and because most of the dining halls are all you can eat, 10 meals is usually sufficient if not more than what is needed.

So how much does each meal come out to cost usually?

about 10 soo sometimes it may be better to just grab a cheaper bite somewhere else
