Does anyone have personal experience with the meal plans? Im really unsure as to which one I should pick. On average I eat between 2 and 3 meals a day but that would cause me to go over the spending limit in meal plans 1 to 3. I picked three with the assumption that there will be days where Ill get something to eat off campus.

So from other student who know, how realistic are these meal plans?

My son and daughter both started with plan 3. They used to let you change your meal plan during the semester, so you may want to check if that’s still an option. It looked like my daughter was going to run out of points before the end of fall semester, so she changed to meal plan 4. They let you carry over your points from fall to spring semester, but not after spring semester. With the points left over from plan 4, she got plan 3 for the spring so that pretty much worked out for her. It was like plan “3 1/2” for both semesters. I think my son ended up increasing to 4 or 5 both semesters. I can’t imagine that either of them ever made it to breakfast. I know my daughter just had cereal in her room. They rarely came home on the weekends, so they were using the meal plan on the weekends up there.

Can someone explain how this works? I heard that it’s by dollars and not total meals, but with the buffet style dining, how do they keep track of what you get?

To godgivnwealth I know they have a calculator on the eliving website that will calculate how many meals you can have with a specific meal plan bfore your funds run out.

Personally I put DD on meal plan 1. If she runs low on points I just add to her account with a credit card. Points roll over from fall to spring but if you have unused points at the end of spring you will lose them if you don’t find some way to spend them. You can use the points at the Creamery, get a couple of half gallons to celebrate the end of the year if you have points left over.

I put my daughter on the least expensive plan. Her balance from fall rolled over to Spring and she just recently requested that I load additional funds onto her dining card to cover her until the end of the semester. We wanted to make sure that we did not have a huge balance as the end of the semester, since they don’t roll over to the fall.
