hey guys! so i'm looking at the meal plan options and figured that some input would be helpful. i've heard that dorm food can get old, so going for the 19 meals a week plans isn't worth it. so 14 or 11? any ideas?

Well, it depends on how often you're going to go home and how much you eat a day. Everyone's different

Seems like that thread had a lot of input on the subject.

1) Do you plan on going home every weekend?
2) What are your eating habits now?
3) Dorm food will get old no matter what... you're here for an entire year under your housing contract!

most likely i won't go home every weekend. maybe a couple of times a quarter. and as of now, i only eat two meals a day, mostly because school starts at 7 and i'd rather get that couple of extra minutes of sleep than eat breakfast hahahaa.

14 will be fine, since you will be staying. If you can't get up at 7 to eat breakfast, you won't wake up for breakfast even at 1030 in college.

14P for flexibility.

I'm planning to get the 19P simply because I eat breakfast every day and I'll be going home maybe...once or twice a month.

wow, ambitious.

i have 14 gold and its fine for me.

Hmm, that's that I thought when I got 19P. But...

You get lazy. Sleep > Breakfast

The breakfast never changes. It's always the same stuff (well, they do change sausages usually)

So, it's 14P for me next year.

So if i get like a coffee in the morning, does that count as using a meal?

yes it does.

so if i use my meal thing at a campus restaurant, how many coffees, coffee + pastry combo, etc. can I get out of one meal? because really, a coffee can't seem to equate to a full meal at a res hall or whatever

one swipe gets you one coffee/tea + pastry or one ice blended coffee

check the menus for the restaurants to see what you get for one swipe.

14b or 14p seems to work for everyone.

everyone i know who's had 19 or 19p downgraded because they couldn't handle it...keep in mind these were guys who usually eat a lot too

The 19p seems to be more cost efficient. It ends up coming out to be a dollar and a couple cents per extra meal compared to the 14p

^agree with MrSpam

nothing's cost efficient if you don't use up all your swipes and either:
-let them go to waste every quarter
-end up using them on water bottles/gatorade cases (1 swipe = 2 bottled drinks)
so... get what you can use. REALISTICALLY can use. ;)

Are there any restrictions to the meal plans? For example, if I chose the 14 meal plan, could I use 2 points for Lunch and Dinner on one day, and on another use 2 points on Breakfast and Lunch?

14 refers to the number of swipes you get. we don't have a point system here. 1 swipe into a dining hall means you get access to all the food you can eat!

restrictions depend on the meal plan you have. non-premier plans can only use 1 swipe per meal period, and unused swipes do NOT roll over from week to week.

premier meal plans let you swipe as many times as you want, whenever you want, and meals carry over weeks. so basically, you get all your meals for the quarter, and if you WANTED to use them all up in one week, you could. strange, but no restrictions on that.

so basically, swipes aren't assigned to certain meals. you don't get breakfast swipes and lunch swipes... you can use them when you want. but non-premier can't use multiple swipes in one meal period, and premier can, which is the biggest difference between the two.
