What is the best meal plan to get? I really liked Cornell's food and I plan to eat it for most of the time. I will occasionally go out with friends and such.

when i started cornell last august, i had the golden bear plan (the unlimited meal per week/$300 big red bucks per semester). however, after the first few weeks of classes and all, i noticed that i wasn't eating 3 meals a day. most of the times i was eating between 10-12 meals a week, and then going to bear nasties for a late-snack. so i downgraded to the 14 meals per week/$500 brb per semester, which i've had since.

but then again, i didn't eat breakfast, only lunch and dinner. so i recommend trying out the golden bear plan first. and if you don't like it after a few weeks, then change it. but note that there is a grace period when you can downgrade your mea lplan.

Hmm...I know for summer college they let us rent out fridges and microwaves, but not sure about the school year. Any current student wanna answer?

compared to other schools, cornells food is amazing. they always have something good to eat...and if not, there is no harm in a little pizza and ice cream :)

Does the meal plan only apply to meals from the 8 dining halls? Do we have to pay seperately for meals from places like Ezra's Emporium, etc. ? Also if we pay seperately at these places, can we use big red bucks?

most freshmen find that the unlimited is a waste of money. Condi, i think you'll realize that you can function on 2 meals a day when you see how full you get from 2 buffet all you can eat meals. You also have BRB's to buy $4 worth of snacks each day. You might also have a hard time finding friends who will want to/have time to eat with you 3 times a day.

most people are too tired to even wake up 20 minutes earlier to get breakfast before classes. but as suggested before, you can always overshoot it and switch to a smaller plan within 2 weeks.

akicondi- If you get the golden bear plan, you might feel obligated to eat campus food three times a day since that's what you're paying for. I know I would. I mean, wouldn't you want the option to eat off-campus without losing money on the meals your're skipping and paid for? Ithaca has some amazing reataurants every Cornellian should try out.

ill think about it, but most days i'll eat three meals. I might downgrade to the next highest plan and use my BRB for off campus meals, but I MUST eat breakfast. When I'm hungry my stomach growls painfully. I'm planning on bringing a fridge, so i could possibly buy like muffins and fruit for breakfast. watev, i still have loads of time to decide.

i started to dread the Freshmen 15 when eyeCU10 said you get full on two buffet all you can eat meals. "All you can eat" , isn't that an invitation for fat people to get fatter. not that im fat.
