<p>I was just waitlisted by Caltech.</p>
<p>What are the differences between those rejected and those waitlisted? I am hoping this means I am still a competitive candidate, seeing that they didn't plainly reject me. What conclusions can I make about my waitlist? Chances at other universities?</p>

<p>Caltech’s decision absolutely does not correspond to what other schools’ decision will be.</p>
<p>You are still eligible to be selected for admission, however you will have to wait until much later to find out if you’ve been accepted. Be sure to give Caltech a reason/reasons to accept you, but generally all in one correspondence rather than 10 little things.</p>
