my mom heard from a college counselor that youre supposed to contact the college to tell them that you want to do regular decision if you get deferred by the college during the early decision process..
thats not true right? i was deferred by my ed school..im automatically in the regular decision pool right?

what does your deferral letter say? well, any way, that is what deferral means, correct- Deferred to a later date…contacting to send in new information- grades, awards etc can be helpful IF the college says its okay

Read your letter again

I was deferred from UChicago. They officially start looking at your app again in the RD pool once your midyear report is in. Don’t know if that’s true for all schools, though. Try to find out on their website, or in anything they used to contact you to tell you you were deferred.

If you’re deferred, you’re automatically considered for RD. But some counselors do suggest that you contact your ED school to let them know that you’re still interested, that they’re still your number one choice, to give them additional information. Perhaps that’s what your mother heard?
