MECA Presidential Scholarship

Hi everyone!
I'm new to the Visual Arts forum but not to CC. My oldest D is a musical theater major/senior in college so I've been down the performing arts/college audition road already. My middle D is my visual arts kid, specifically photography, and she has been accepted to SVA, Parsons, and now MECA. She has/or will apply to FIT, DCAD and VCU.

My question is about the Presidential Scholarship at Maine College. The way the letter is written is very vague. She was awarded $16,000 but we are not sure if that is the total for all 4 years or if it is $16,000 per academic year. They mention that it is renewable contingent upon maintaining satisfactory academic progress.

Obviously, I can't call them as it is Christmas break so I was hoping someone here had the answer.

Good luck to everyone as we wait for those acceptances to come in!!!

This is not the answer to your question but I wanted to ask you if your daughter received any merit scholarship from SVA also.

My daughter also got acceptances from SAIC and SVA, and SAIC already notified her with $52,800 total for 4 years as Merit Scholarship alone. However, she only received an acceptance email (no snail mail acceptance letter yet) from SVA last Wednesday with no info on scholarships. Do you think she’s not getting any? Or maybe it is coming with the snail mail?

Thank you in advance for your reply. ^^

Congrats on your D’s acceptances!

My D received an email acceptance last Monday to SVA, with no indication of scholarships. I know SVA is a for-profit school so the availability of scholarships is limited. I think that once you submit the FAFSA they may then offer any scholarships/grants within the total financial aid package.

What is your daughter’s intended major?

Best,
Tamara

Also she has received the acceptance letter via USPS and there is no mention of scholarships in that packet either. It does included a flyer that tells you to complete the FAFSA after Jan. 1 for an estimated fin aid award package so I’m pretty sure you have to wait until they get that info.

Thank you much for a quick reply. I guess then we will have to wait.

Her intended major right now is illustration. ^^
