Mech Engineering Cal Poly:SLO or Purdue

Accepted at both, 3.93 GPA, AP English Lang (5), AP US History(4), AP Spanish (3), AP Lit, AP Gov, AP Calc in the works, currently live in Nevada, and looking at either a double major (ME and Bussiness) and or a masters (engineering)

Poly or Purdue?

Purdue, hands down. Unless you really love California, or can't afford Purdue for some reason.

Purdue for sure

Is Cal Poly better for someone looking for a smaller college experience? How is it viewed by graduate schools and employers?

Uh, Cal Poly isn't that small - 16k undergrads (although there are hardly any grad students). While Purdue has 30k undergrads, they are both sizable state schools. Cal Poly also has more faculty/student (19/1) than Purdue (30/1).

Purdue has a better reputation nationwide, although I imagine Cal Poly is good in California. While I don't like using US News, this should give somewhat of a gauge of Poly's reputation compared to Purdue's: Purdue's undergrad program is ranked 8th out of PhD-granting universities with an engineering program (keep in mind their competitors), and has a 4.3 peer assessment ranking. Cal Poly is 6th out of LACs/Universities that only award up to a Masters, but only has a peer rating of 3.7 (this would be 22nd if it were on the Phd-granting list).

Not to mention that Purdue has a decent sports team once in a while. :P

Im flying out to Purdue to visit on the 14, have to send in housing considerations a week before I leave, oh well. Iim totally depending on local scholarships at this point (looking to get at least $15K)..so any other things to take into consideration?
