Hi
I am having a hard time choosing between CMU and UCB with Regents for Mechanical Engineering. I have looked at the ranking but I dont exactly trust them. I also do not want an overly competitive environment. If we were to disregard the financial aspect, which of these schools should I choose?
thanks

Check course offerings and faculty research interests on the department web sites of each school to see if either school is stronger in subareas of mechanical engineering that you are most interested in.

Check career surveys of graduates:

[Post-Graduation Survey: Salaries & Destinations-Career and Professional Development Center - Carnegie Mellon University](http://www.studentaffairs.cmu.edu/Career/Students/gps1/explore/survey/)

Ask more questions on the forums specific to those schools.

And if you are on the fence, but one is much less expensive, go there.
