Mechanical Engineering Department

I have been accepted to Alabama and I really like the school as a whole. I am going to study mechanical engineering and was hoping that someone could shed some light on the department. Particularly, I am interested in job placement and the availability of paid internships. What companies are big recruiters of UA engineering students? I am interested in automotive engineering and Michigan Tech is another one of my top choices because of their efforts to help you land a job after you earn your degree. Any information would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

There is a Mercedes Benz plant fairly close to University of Alabama. Go into the search feature on this site and put in Mercedes. There is a fair amount of discussion about coops etc. Hope this helps.

If you have not been to this URL, check it out! The co-op department at UA is very well organized and “on it”!

And congratulations on your acceptance! (My son is a freshman ME major by the way.)
