Mechanical Engineering Internship

I am a 2nd year Mechanical Engineering student, and am looking for summer internships.

When is the best time to submit the resumes and application?

What are places you can recommend, and for those of you who been through on, what do you do during the day during the internship?

Are there any big companies who hire a lot of interns? What are my chances if my GPA is over 3.5?

Thanks!

lots of chances if your GPA is over 3.5. i can tell you that.

I would also like to know the answer to this question, as I am applying for internships this winter.

don't your colleges use Monstertrak.com? that's where you wanna go if you are looking for internships.

I haven’t had any success with Monstertrak. I think there are too many submissions on there for the company to go through.

I would think there are better chances through directly applying on the company website.

Google internships in your area (i did that and got a great website though a local paper). Are you looking for this summer? You’re probably (almost definitely) too late to get a job, since you should apply around February/March for most summer positions. Also a 3.5+ GPA definitely helps, I gave my resume to a govt agency and they hired me instantly because of my high GPA in engineering, as a freshman.

^Look at the date of the first post.

oops! sorry, I was a bit of a late responder :P
