Aerospace Engineering is a subset of Mechanical Engineering. At some universities AE is a graduate-degree only program. Boeing, United Technologies, GE Aerospace, General Dynamics, Pratt & Whitney, NASA etc. hire lots of Mechanical Engineers fresh out of college. It is your internship or co-op experience that will be critically important; not exclusively your alma mater.
