I’m interested in going into robotics engineering and I’m researching colleges that have a bachelors program in robotics.
So far I’ve found these schools with a full bachelors in robotics engineering:
-Worchester Polytechnic Institute
-Carnegie Mellon (add on degree can double major in mechanical engineering or physics or something)
I don’t think there are any more, but if there are, please let me know.
I’m having trouble finding schools with a mechanical engineering degree that has an option of a robotics focus. So far the only one I’ve found is Eastern Washington University. I’m sure they’re out there, so my question is, what schools offer this type of program?
You can try Vanderbilt, a small private school. They have BS for ME and focus/concentration in Robotics/Mechatronic. Especially if you like to do research in Medical Field. They have research and classes on: Surgical Robotics, Intelligent Mechatronics, Robotic and autonomous systems, etc. Click this: http://engineering.vanderbilt.edu/docs/vuse-pdfs/ME.pdf
My son graduated from that school this past May. He is into ME and has taken a couple of classes in Mechatronic and robotics. They are big on research and are generous in school funds and no loans policy, etc. I also think robotics (automation) are a way of the future. Good luck with your school.
Do some research, I suspect that many engineers doing robotics work actually studied Mechanical or Electrical Engineering… those majors would be available at very many schools.
@colorado_mom I realize those are options but that wasn’t my question, I’m looking for a school where I could get involved in robotics as a mechanical engineering concentration or possibly in research of some kind. Thank you anyway!
Maybe this list of FIRST Robotics scholarship colleges will give you some “strings to pull on”… I’m thinking they would have better odds to have campus robotics opportunities http://www.firstinspires.org/scholarships
Robotics is more of a grad school specialty. Undergrads take many of the same classes fresh/soph year and there are upper level classes you can take Junior and Senior year in specialties such as robotics. Check the course catalog to see if they have upper level courses for undergrads on topics of interest. Major in ME at almost any ENG college but if they have specialty classes of interest, that can broaden your search.
PS My son got into WPI and ended up going elsewhere, but that seemed like a great school.
Good though that you are looking at more options.
