Mechanical Engineering

I know that Georgia Tech is known for it's CS program, but I haven't heard much about other areas of engineering there. I'm interested in Mechanical Engineering and robotics and I was wondering if anyone could shed any insight on what Georgia Tech has to offer in these areas. The 5 year BS/MS program is pretty appealing. Are there options for undergraduate research and studying abroad?

Also, would admissions be more difficult since I'm out of state or does the school treat all applicants the same?

It's more known for Mechanical Engineering than CS I would think. Granted we're known for pretty much anything science/engineering related. I was out of state and got in ME, and I didn't have the best grades/scores. The 5 year program is hard to get into...you need to maintain a 3.5 up through your junior year to be accepted I think.

Research opps. are there, you just have to be proactive and ask/find them yourself. Professors don't just offer them, and sometimes you're competing against a few students...depending on the position.

There are definitely research and study abroad opportunities. They very much stressed those points at the preview.

And I don't think being out of state makes it harder to get in. It certainly makes it more expensive to go there though.

Thanks for the clarification!
