Mechanical or petroleum engineering

i'm currently apply to Texas A&M and University of Texas as a transfer student from TCU. i was kind of forced into mechanical engineering since the program here is so small. i started my applications with the intention of switching into petroleum, but i'm now second guessing that. i'm worried that i'm going to have trouble switching majors and that my classes won't transfer and overlap very well. i know petroleum is paid much better, which is a good incentive, but i am also aware that mechanical is more versatile. i'm super torn and would love some opinions and suggestions! its urgent!!!

It’s a lot more important that you pick the field Your interested in. Dont worry about credit transfers or scheduling, the colleges are pretty good with getting transfers on track to their program.

If you want to go into the oil and gas industry, and want to work upstream your best bet in petroleum engineering. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
