Greetings.

I'm going to be taking the ACT with "optional" Writing this Saturday and was wondering if using a mechanical pencil for the essay will invalidate my essay or cause it to read incorrectly in the grading machine.

I only ask because I had a bad regular pencil experience with the essay section of the May SAT. Which has turned me against all regular pencils.

I won't be using a mechanical pencil on the multiple choice part-- even though they do erase so much better.

Thank you.

Oh yeah, and I'd also like to say that ARCO® ACT Prep sucks, if this'd be a good place to slip that in.

Get the BIC 7 mm Lead Pencils, They have #2 on it, hence it is a number 2 pencil,

they just dont want mech pencils cuz then ppl will bring in 5 mm and 9mm and all that shat and they dont want to deal with the exceptions so they just say no to all of it

dont worry i use a mech pencil on each sat and act ive taken cuz i can not use a regular pencil anymore

some proctors won't allow them though.
so be prepared with regular pencils.
