I am looking to study either Mechanical Engineering or Computer Science or (to a lesser extent) Chemical Engineering and eventually get a MD/PhD in biomedical engineering (ambitious... I know). I was wondering which would better prepare me for a BME Masters/PhD? In case I decide not to go to medical school, which is unlikely, what are the differences in job prospects between these majors? I feel like I always hear about the demand for CS and ChemE majors but I don't hear about much of a demand for MechE majors.

Mech E are in demand. They are a versatile field and can go to many places. For Biomed prep, Chem E or Mech E is the way to go. Actually, a lot of BioE and Biomed E were EE ChE or ME undergrads.

Don’t choose your major based on what your graduate degree will be. Choose a field you enjoy and your grades will be a lot better. For engineering, there are usually jobs available for those with a B.s. in ME, CHE or EE.
