does anyone have the stats for how many pre-meds on average get accepted into a med school?

theres no such thing as a premed

UCI does not have a pre-med program, but one can assume that UCI still follows the national average, where less than half of all pre-med applicants are accepted to any med school.

i didn't mean like pre-med majors, but like ppl who do pre-med requirements to get into med school

Right, but UCI does not publish statistics on its med school applicants. So one must assume that as UCI is an average school for its "pre-med" students, the national average acceptance rate will be about the same. And schools vary in acceptance rate very little, generally 5-15% difference in either direction. Since UCI is not an exceptional school for its applicants, the acceptance rate is, therefore, approximately 45%. Remember, this is only a rationalization, as no stats are released.

When I went to "Welcome UCI" and attended the session for the School of Biological Science, they gave out several print-outs. One of them is a list of medical schools and the number of UCI students applied to that school and the number of students accepted to the school. You can call Bio Sci Student Affairs Office at (949) 824-5318.

lmao if i were you i would concentrate on first trying to pass ochem and genetics

im a freshman too with similar goals, but dont let the stats phase you out, you have to first do well in the prereqs and then start to worry about getting in/getting rejected

hey confident, is there a way u can get that list on your computer?

PM me your email address. I will send it to you.

does irvine have a med school? if so, does it give preference to undergrads already there?

Sports, yes,yes.

They have a quota to fill with their undergrads.

Yeah and i would like that stat you have confident.

shoefactorie@gmail.com

what kind of quota? can u elaborate

No, i can't elaborate.

does ne1 else know of a quota for pre-med students?

I'm the only one (in the universe) who knows, and I won't disclose the information.

fine, u have your reasons, but do u know if any other UCs have "quotas" or stuff like that?

^ (10 chars)

Most UCs have quotas for taking in their own students, but very rarely will they be published or revealed, except perhaps to those who made it into their med school.
