med school acceptance

does anyone have the stats for how many pre-meds on average get accepted into a med school?

55 i believe. I know it's more than or equal to fifty.

that is, 55 for those who eventually get to apply. By application time, supposedly something close to 90% of premeds have changed their mind or have given up due to subpar GPA.

I think it might vary from college to college. I remember Revelle sending me stuff saying they have a remarkably high acceptance rate for med school (80s or 90s), although its hard to say that that the college would make a big difference (its GEs look a lot like med school reqs though)

when u guys say 55, that's percentage right?

oops. delete this post. =D

Yes, 55% are admitted to at least 1 medical school. It could be your safety, or you could've been admitted to almost all of them.

i also remember revelle sending me a welcome letter saying that the acceptanc rate of its students applying for med school was higher than that of any other public institution in the U.S.......................0.0

Was that supposed to be a face?

If you fulfill the requirements, it is easy to be accepted into a med school but WHICH med school is a totally different question

I guarantee you that the 55% stat changes significantly.

is UCSD's rate a lot higher than say the middle-tier UCs lik Davis, Irvine, SB? but especially Davis?

^(10 chars)

I highly doubt that UCSD's rate is that much different than the rates for those other schools. Either way, it shouldn't matter, because adcoms are not going to use your undergrad school in and of itself to determine whether you should be accepted or not. What matters is what you DO and how WELL you do during your undergrad years.

yeah that's the main thing, i was just trying to get an idea of the school's track record
