Med School and Business School?

Is it at all possible to attend both medical school and business school?

A simple answer is no.

Yes you can! Many universities offer combined MD/MBA programs.

Sure you can. There are two ways to do that. One is to do an MD/MBA program that’s been established by a university or a partnership between two universities. Usually MD/MBA programs allow you to shave off about one year, completing both degrees in 5 years instead of 6. [This article](http://www.usnews.com/education/best-graduate-schools/top-medical-schools/articles/2013/10/01/become-a-business-savvy-doctor-with-a-joint-md-mba-program) shares that there are an estimated 65 MD/MBA programs in the U.S.

The other option is, of course, to complete them separately - getting the MD from one school and the MBA from another (at either the same or different universities).

The more important question is whether or not you actually need both an MBA and an MD. Even if you do a combined program, that’s one more year of tuition and fees you are paying, and one less year you are spending earning money. But an MBA will not necessarily bring extra riches or job opportunities. It’s not a choice to undertake simply because you can’t decide which one you want to do. Also, in order to get admitted to both, you need to be admissible to both - by which I mean that you’ll want to have done all of the things pre-med need to do (shadowing doctors, getting a high science GPA, volunteering at a hospital) AND all of the things a competitive MBA applicant would have done (gotten 2-5 years of professional work experience post-college, primarily).
