In your opinion, will I be
accepted to a Medical
School in the US?

Did you specify “in the US” because you are also considering schools in other countries? Are you a US citizen? If you’re not a US citizen, getting into med school in the US is an uphill battle. If you’re not a US citizen, sit tight and WOWMom will respond with ideas about admissions chances.

Otherwise, I think your GPA looks good, your sGPA is on the low side of normal, and your MCAT is slightly below average. You mentioned hospital volunteering and shadowing and that you’re extremely involved; have you done any research? It sounds like your extracurriculars tick off most of the important boxes, but don’t seem exceptional.

If you’re a US citizen and if your extracurriculars are more impressive than you wrote (as I imagine they are), then I bet you can overcome (read: be accepted with) a 29 MCAT and low-ish sGPA by applying broadly and perhaps considering DO programs.

Individuals who are not US citizens or who do not have permanent resident status (“green card”) are at a severe disadvantage when applying to US medical schools.

Most US medical schools (MD and DO) will not even consider internationals for admissions and of those that do only a handful (literally 4 or 5) offer financial aid to internationals. Federal loans (which is how most US med students finance their education) are not available to non US citizens or PRs.

Here’s a list of admission policies towards internationals:

(List was compiled in 2008 and reviewed/updated in 2010)

There are venues for international students to complete their medical education overseas and then return to the US for their residency training.

That process is overseen by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates. See their website for an explantion of the process.

Pretty low for MD schools, pretty high for DO schools. Based on your stats, that is.
