Med school does early acceptance, so does my pre med major matter even less

This college I plan on applying to has an early acceptance into medical school program, with EASY requirements - 27 on ACT, and 3.0 GPA, and you’re accepted into med school before you get out of high school. I plan on going to said school and going to their medical school.

So, do you think my undergrad major barely matters then, and as long as I fulfill pre-med, I’m good? Not saying I’m gonna do this, but could I major in something very unrelated like Music Theory and everything’s fine? Or should I go with Biology because it’s generally the go-to pre-med major?

I’m pretty much looking for any and all thoughts on the matter.

You should do your research on the program. Its not that simple, never is and never will be. While those programs are great, they are extremely competitive to get into. Although the requirements may seem easy, they are just that, requirements. The people applying to this program have ACT scores of 36 and 4.0 GPA (unweighted). I’ve seen so many people get rejected with even perfect ACT and GPA scores. Be mindful, getting a 27 and 3.0 GPA is not that difficult at all. There is no way they would just accept anyone with those scores to go to medical school. Lastly, these programs do not get you into medical school before you graduate high school. You will be told whether or not your offer into medical school still stands usually your sophomore or junior year of college which is based upon your GPA and MCAT score if they require you to take one. So, if you do get into this program, yes your major still matters. While you may have this medical school to rely on, you should always broaden your options (consider tuition). I can’t really comment on whether or not to major in bio. Ive heard very mixed things about this, some say your major doesn’t matter, some say medical schools wanna see a diversity in major across their students so I guess it truly depends on how selective of medical schools you plan on applying to. But your major is NOT something you should stress about now. Most likely in college your major literally won’t make a difference. Your freshmen year you take core classes + bio and chem which is the same for all pre med track students. Sophomore year its still pretty much the same, but the point is you have so much time. Trust me, I was the same way as you thinking I needed to get my major ahead of time so I didn’t have to worry about it later, but trust me theres no need, apply undecided. Having an open major allows you to allow explore your options once you start college. Good luck!

Furthermore, what happens if you change your mind about medical school halfway through college? Three years into college? What if your interests change and you decide you want to do something else? Will your undergraduate major position you favorably, in that case? These are things you need to think about.

Is this a Caribbean medical school?

Well, your undergrad major doesn’t really matter regardless of what kind of medical school you apply to - as long as you fulfill the pre-med requirements and have good grades and MCAT scores, you’re good. Some majors may have better preparation for the rigors of med school (or the MCAT) than others. But you could still major in music theory or art history or sociology or computer science and go to medical school.
