My Dil applied as an international with a student visa. She was accepted to 6 us MD schools and is currently attending her dream school. And no she did not have the stats posted above.
I’m only posting this info because there is so much negativity out there. I did a lot of reading for her in this journey and if we listened to the naysayers she would be nowhere in this process. If you attended a us undergrad have a great gpa and mcat you can do it. Don’t let anyone tell you you can’t. Just work hard. I will say…the real challenge is paying once you get in if you don’t have residency or citizenship.
@liNYandnePA is your DIL married to a U.S. citizen husband (your son)?
My understanding is that these international students can get accepted to U.S. Med schools…but residencies can be problematic…but even more so…getting a job here after when all you have is a student visa.
As noted upstream…there ARE international students accepted here for medical school. Just not very many. And most come from Canada.

After your DIL married to your son, she could be on an international student visa and applied for PR status change the same time. It will take up to 12 month processing to get marriage green card. She could provide her status change information to medical schools and after verification, they could consider her as a PR and gave her an exception. I think that is what happened.
It is a fact that only 106 “true” international students matriculated in 2017-8 application cycle. It is on AAMC’s record, I am sure AAMC is not going to lie.

The plural of anecdote is not data, particularly as the anecdote is not analogous to the OP’s situation, unless he marries an American citizen between now and then.
Regardless, this thread has all the hallmarks of a hit-and-run posting since the OP have never returned.
No PR during application process at all. Applied as international.
As an international married to an American…
