I’m an high school senior right now and am planning to apply to several BS/MD programs. Do colleges typically pay for flights and hotels for out-of-state interviewees? If not, how much did it cost for the whole trip?
The college will usually arrange for you to stay with a student host in the dorms and provide a meal voucher to eat in the school cafeteria. The cost of travel to & from campus is usually borne by the applicant.
How much the plane fare costs depends on the relative locations of your home and the school.
And just as a FYI, hotels do not allow under-18 year olds to stay at a hotel unless accompanied by a parent or other responsible adult.
My friend had to take her son, was under 18 then, fly all over the place to get interviews for BS/MD. It was VERY expensive. At the end, the kid did not get ANY acceptance and took on UC Berkeley’s offer. He has completed the fellowship, upon graduated from CaseSOM and is practicing now.
