I am a student currently at Texas A&M. I transferred from another college (not a community college) and received all A’s except for a B in calculus 2 after my freshman year. When I transferred to A&M my first semester(as a sophomore) it was rough and I was unable to do well. I received a 1.75 and was put on acedmic probabtion. However I turned things around the next semester and received a 3.67 the next semester and a 3.77 last semester currently (a junior) I have A’s and one B. I do plan on graduating a semester later then what I would normally because I did repeat two classes I did poorly on. Calculus 3 and Organic chemistry. I received a D in both the first time but got an A in math and a B in organic chemistry. What are my chances for medical school? I know my gpa won’t be close to what I wanted due to my bad semester but I still want to be a doctor and I have an upward trend. I also EC’s as well but based on the GPA which I know is a big deal what are my chances? I also do not want to go to DO school. MCAT score is a 510.
Your MCAT is pretty good, although not good enough to make up for a low GPA. Where does your GPA stand right now?
Yes, please post more information.
Current overall GPA
Current sGPA (just BCMP courses)
Year by year breakdown of GPA (so we can get an idea of your grade trend to see if as strong as you think it is)
Here’s a TMDSAS grid of applicants/matriculants broken down by GPA and MCAT score. You will have issues because Texas schools favor GPA over MCAT scores when considering applicants.

As a FYI. osteopathic med schools no longer allow grade replacement so both AMCAS and AACOMAS will include initial and retaken classes in GPA calcualtions
I think you should put in some DO schools in your application, beggars can’t be choosers. With the roller coaster ride of your GPA, there is a good chance that you will not be competitive enough for MD schools. Besides, you know even you got A and B on your repeats, there is nothing to write home about, med schools expected you to perform all A’s in repeats, yet you only got a B in Ochem, that is a weak point they will not overlook.
Again, we need your cGPA and sGPA as WOWM commented.

Ok…so here are your choices:
-
apply to only MD schools and there’s a good chance you won’t get any acceptances unless your sGPA and cGPA are higher than a 3.65. If that happens, what would you then do?? Choose a DIFFERENT career?

apply to MD and DO schools and then if you only get DO acceptances, what would you do?
So…if the choice is…not becoming a doctor AT ALL or going to DO school, what would you choose?
