I'm currently a junior in high school. I plan on being an ob/gyn. What courses in high school would better prepare me? What colleges should I look at and what should I major in?

Get a book from your local library about med school admissions. There is just too much advice you need for people to type it all in every time someone asks this question.

To give the part most immediately applicable to you, the courses that will help most are math and science. That, however, is not the most important thing for you to be doing right now. The most important thing is volunteering in a medical setting (hospital, nursing home, etc). When it comes time to apply to med school they’re going to expect that you’ve spent time involved in medicine so you know what you’re getting yourself into. The reason to do it sooner rather than later is you may discover you aren’t as interested as you thought; conversely you may find yourself more sure than ever its right for you and this will help motivate you to do everything you can to make sure you get in.

Any school is fine for pre-med, however, I’d look for a school that fits the kind of atmosphere you want and covers your other interests as well. I think the statistic is that 80% of people who think they want to go pre-med never even end up taking the MCAT. You’ll most likely change your mind, and there’s nothing wrong with that.
